at least she got to trick-or-treat

I got a call on Wednesday while I was at work - Anna had a 102 fever! I took her to the Dr., and sure enough - it was the flu. So, Anna and I hung out for the next few days. The Dr. gave her Tamaflu, so that might have helped keep things pretty mild. She had a fever, usually around 99-101, and a runny nose, but her spirits remained high.

The thing that was so crummy about the whole flu thing - she didn't get to go to her Halloween Party at school and I didn't get to go on my Apple Orchard field trip. I was totally bummed on Friday, but letting her get rest so she would be well was most important.

Luckily, Anna was fever free and getting back to her normal self today, so she got to go trick-or-treating. I bought this super cute "queen bee" costume online, and I found a flower basket for her to carry. She had a blast. She got the hang of what she was supposed to do right away. We only went to the houses on our street - it was a little too cold for her to be outside for long, and she wasn't going to eat most of the candy anyway. I let her try Reese's Pieces, which she promptly did the "more" sign for - so freakin' funny.

We all enjoyed watching the show the neighbors across the street put on. They were dressed up in spooky costumes, and would scare the big kids. The girls would run and scream. The boys would try to act tough. They were playing music which Anna enjoyed dancing to. I guess they put on the show every year, so I can't wait to see what they do next year. Anna was not scared; I think she just wanted more candy.

Pumpkin Patch

We FINALLY got to the pumpkin patch this weekend. The weather has been so lousy this month we weren't sure we were ever going to make it. We chose to go to Boyd's in Woodford Co. this time. It was very nice, but also very crowded since it was such a perfect day - not cold, not hot, sunny sky.

We checked out the activities and decided to go on a pony ride, a hay ride, eat doughnuts and an apple pie, and choose pumpkins. We skipped the playground because it was crowded and she's still kind of small and other kids are kind of big - maybe next year.

I've never been on a horse before. It was just walk in a circle a few times kind of deal. I felt sorry for the horses but not enough to skip the ride. I felt really sorry for the horse when this guy that weighed about 300 lbs. said he rides it - WHY??? Walking in circles all day isn't enough pain for one day? Anyway, Anna LOVED the ride. She loves the Sandy Pony ride at Meijer (only 1 penny), so we guessed she would also enjoy the real deal, and she did. Since I try to avoid shopping with Anna at all costs, it might be the last pony ride she has for a while.

We had a nice ride around the orchard on the hay ride. Anna of course liked checking out the people - she's very curious.

Then we chose pumpkins, but from the ones already picked. We didn't think she could handle the walk to the pumpkin patch and back again. There was this group of small pumpkins. She picked up about 10 different pumpkins - I guess trying to find the perfect one. We eventually chose one for her. She was pretty cute picking up all the pumpkins.

We had a really great day. Can't wait to go back again next year!

first haircut

So maybe we're several months late on the haircut thing considering Anna was born with a full head of hair. We had to wait until we were with B's mom since she cuts hair for a living. We were in New Riegel for the weekend (B's sister had a party to celebrate the addition on their house that they finished.), so it was a good time to go for it.

I was a little nervous. I'm not a hair person (demonstrated by my lack of hair style since I was 2). I get used to things the way they are. So the top of Anna's hair grew faster than the back making it look like two different styles - but so cute with her ponytail on top. So, we went to the beauty shop where Anna sat on the counter with snacks, always with snacks, and had her hair cut by Mimi (that's her grandma name). She looks so cute. Her hair looks like it goes together now. It's still long enough for ponytails, but if her attitude can handle it, we could put little barrettes on the sides.

I love her little haircut. My baby's growing up.

I'm in an eating club

I was in a book club with random people - I think I wrote about this in another post - we are now an eating club. We are too busy with work and babies to actually read books (except I do have somewhat of an addiction to Nora Roberts' romance novels as of late). Several members of the book club had to drop out because work and family commitments...and then there were 6.

With only 6 people, it's easy to have only 1 or 2 people read, which means that having a book club is dumb. But we like to get together with someone other than our husbands or families (no matter how great they are), so we did the only logical thing...changed it to an eating club.

We try to go out once a month to a restaurant that one member chooses. Tracy chose A.P. Roots which is next to A.P. Suggins on Romany Rd. It was so fun. It was so yummy. I'd never been there before, so it's always fun to try something new. I had the mini cheeseburgers and a side of fries - both delicious. We also shared the hummus appetizer, which I loved. It was very garlicy, so I was super surprised when Bryan didn't crab at me bc I had garlic coming out of my pores (he has a very sensitive nose). Conversation was great. It was just a fun night.

I'm choosing next time -maybe Saul Good or Butt Rub. Mmmm.
